THE LA MONTE FURNACE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORREESPONDENT.] Thames, Friday.
The New Zealand Smelting Company's La Monte furnace was " blown in " at 8 o'clock this morning, working most &atisfactotily. About 240 tons of ore are stacked at the works, of values ranging from about £■"> to £i) Gs per ton. The smelter is discharging freely, and there is e\cry prospect of a successful run of three or four weeks' duration.
