CAMBRIDGE LIBRARY.

A meeting of members of the Cambridge library was held in the library on Tuesday eveniner. - There was u good attendance, Mr R. W. Sargent taking the chair. The Treasurer's report and balance-sheet showed a cash balance on hand of £1 Is 2d. The report of the committee was received and adopted. The report htated that the institution fatill retained its hold on public estimation. The number of subscribers was 154, and the amount subscriptions received was £G3 Is Gd. The share of the Government subsidy had been £22 Is 3d. The committee had improved the spaces in the library for the reception of books, and had re-arranged and classified the books. A new catalogue had b°en issued. 70 new volume* had been added, making a total of 1G34 books now in the library. Several new members were elected. The following are the committee elected for the ensuing year :— Messrs Sargent, Hewitt, Dyer, Capt. Souter and Mr W. Stewart. Messrs Thompson and Russell were appointed auditors. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to the secretary and auditors, And also to the chairman, Mr Sargent, for the efficient manner in which he had discharged his duties.

The directors of the North New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association have made a call (the 9th) of Is per share, payable before the 12th February. The time for receiving tenders for works on the Hukanui-Taupiri and river roads, Kirikiriroa Road District, has been extended until Saturday, January 30th. Messrs Hesketh, Aitkiu and Maclean, auctioneer", land, estate, and general commission agents, announce that they have commenced business in Durham - street, Auckland, and solicit the patronage of the settlers of Waikato, to whom all the members of the new firm we well and favourably known.
