LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Wellington, Monday. The Governor is expected to arrive hero on Wednesday. His Excellency will pay a visit to the Admiral on Wednesday next. This morning a party consisting of His Worship the Mayor, Mr Martin (Town Clerk), the Hon. A. De Bath Brandon, M.L.C.; Mr E. Pearce (chairman of the Harbour Board), and Capt. Holliday (harbour master) went off in the Harbour Board's boat to the Nelson to welcome the Admiral. The Mayor informally invited him to a ball to be given to him ana his officers by the citizens on Thursday, and the mvi Ution was accepted. It is understood that Admiral Tryon will be entertained at a ball by the members of the Wellington Club on Wednesday next. It is not known how long the Nelson will remain in port, but probably about ten days. The Admiral has expressed a wish that no salute should be fired, and he does not wish for a guard of honour when he lands. It is stated that H.M.S. Nelson will not visit any Southern ports, but it is expected that Admiral Tryon, His Excellency, and Sir G. Whitmore will proceed South in the Hinemoa on a visit of inspection to the Southern ports. The Wellington Amateur Diamatic Club intend getting up a performance for the sufferers by the bush fires at Stratford. The inquebt on the late fire on Lambton Quay lias commenced, but as Mr Myers, in whose shop it is alleged the fire broke out, was absent, it was adjourned (or a week. ___^___^_— _
