[RBUTKR'S TKr.FOKAMS.] Paris, October 5. The result of the French general election has been n large gain to the Conservative party in the provinces. The number of the electors who availed themselves of the privilege of the franchise was unusually great. The returns for Paris, however, are still incomplete. Riots took place last night outside the publishing office of Le Gaulois, which was illuminated in honour of the result of the elections. The police, however, soon dispersed the crowd.

Jules Ferry, 230; Radicals, 150 ; Bonapartists, 60. The following members of the present Ministry have been defeated :—M. Allain Targe, Minister of the Interior ; M. Goblet, Minister of Public Instruction ; M. Herve Mangon, Minister of Commerce ; and M. Pierre Leg.iraud, Minister of Agriculture. M. Deves, who held office as Minister of Justice in M. Duclerc's Ministry, and M. Rouvier, who held the portfolio of Commerce in M. Ferry's Ministry, have also been rejected. The ballotages for the Senate include : M. Brisson, the present Premier ; M. de Broglie, M. Clemenceau, and M. Sadicarnot, Minister of Public Works in the present Ministry. Later.
