The Late Fatal Accident at Ellerslie. An inquest w.13 held yesterday on William John Rittetson before Dr. Plulson, corouer. — Lawfoid Evans, medical prn it 1 turner, deposed that ho was at Elleishe on Thursday, Ist inst. He had seen the body of the deceased. He was on the stops of the grand stand about five o'clock, as neatly as he could tell, and saw deceased walking deliberately into the conr&e. He a\oided the fiist horse, but the if cond struck him and f.iirly carrL'd him oft' his feet. He uu about '2oo yauls from the spot where the accident occurred. He ran up to deceased and found him lying on the ground. Dr. Hooper also cune up at the same time. The hoi se w hich struck him was Mitrailleuse, and he did not know the name of the rider. He found the man in a state of apparent collapse. He felt his pulse, which was very weak. He was partly sensible, but was in too much pain to speak or give any account of the accident. He was unable to say why he ran into the cour.ie. The other evidence was of a similar nature. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
