Tho children attending the Sundayschool were entertained at then usual picnic on New Year's Day at Mr Jolly's paddocks, Tho Lake, Hamilton Wet. There was a large muster ot childicn at the Public Hall in the morning, and some apprehension was felt on account of the weather, but towards the afternoon tho rain cleared off, and .1 v ery enjoyable day wan spent by young and old. Tho customary games were indulged in, and ample supplies of refreshments were dispensed.
