NEW YEAR'S DAY.
Nkw Yk\k's Day paused off very well in Waikato. In almost every town or couture of population throughout tho district thore was somo attr.iction, and though the weather at times was somewhat unftivoui able, .still enioyment and good spirits were pietty general. The leading feature wa*> the Cambridge Races. A number of the Hamilton people went up by the npecial train, and by the .steamer, but notwithstanding the attendance was not so largo as w.is expected. Tho Alexandra spoitwere a success, and were well attended by the nettlers of the distuct, and To Awainutii. The To Awniuuiu b.uid w.is in attendance. Theio w.is the usual Sun-day-School fotos and private picnic--, and the cricket match between Hamilton and Xg.miau.ihi.l attiacted a good number of spectator. Appended is 11 detailed account of the day s spoits and utti actions.
