NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE.
Mk Thompson's house, on the Ohaupo Road, had a narrow escape from being deBtroj ed a few days ago. The chimney caught fire, and but for the timely assistance of Father Luck, who was passing at the time, the house would have been binned down. The rev. gentleman saw the bhue and hurried to the spot. Theie was no ladder, but his reverence, notwithstanding, waß soon on the roof putting out the fiie, which, thanks to his exertions, was soon done. He did not stop to speculate on the probable injury to his black clothes, but climbed up the verandah-post with the agility of a sailor, and was on the house in a few seconds. There was no one at home at the time but Mrs Thompson. —(Own Correspondent).
