NGARUAWAHIA SCHOOL CONCERT.
Tiik concert took place on Tuesday as ad\ertised. Although the night was not at all favourable, the room was well filled, and those who attended were amply lepaid for their patronage. It was decidedly a children's concert. And the parts taken by them, reflected gieat credit on their teacher, Mr Bell, who also conducted the concert. During the evening, Mr Bell gave a lesson before the audience, by the way of an explanation of the Tonic Sol-fa system. This was highly appreciated. The hi ass and flute band kindly lent their services, but as they are neaily all "old boys'' of the school, th^y took a gi eater interest in their work than they perhaps otherwise would. The brabs band has been but a short time in existence, and their performance was highly creditable to Mr Williams their teacher. The flutes showed that the pains that had been taken in their eatly training had not been thrown away. The duet, flute and picolo, was loudly applauded and encored. A \ote of thanks to Mr Bell, and to the chairman (Mr Chappell), concluded the performance. — (Correspondent.)
