S. MARY'S MONASTERY, HAMILTON.
Bazaar at the Public Hall. A t;\7,\ak to raise money to supplement the building fund of S. Mary's Monastety, Hamilton East, was opened at the Public Hall, Hamilton, on Saturday morning. The hall was tastefully decorated with evergreens and flowers, &c., and presented a very pleasing appearance. The stalls were ranged on either side, under the management of Mrs McOanigle and Miss Chitty, ably assisted by other ladies of the Roman Catholic congregation. The display of floods of all kinds was very noticeable, the majoiily of the articles exposed for sale beiug the work of the sisteis of the order of our Lady of the Mission in various parts of the. colony, and included samples of all kinds of needle and fancy work, pictures, photogiaphs, dolls, toys, &c. A lefreshment stall was erected on the platform, under the direct'on of the Misses Oassidy. His Worship the Mayor performed the opening ceremony in a few appropriate word&, in which he expressed his satisfaction that the Catholic portion of the community were not behind their neighbours in their desire to keep pace with the times. The attendance on Saturday, owing probably to the weather, \v.is small, and the amount of business done corresponded. In the evening the string band played a number of selections, which were much appreciated. Yesterday there was a much better attendance, but the weather again prevented many living at a distance from being present. " The bazaar will remain open to-day at the Public Hall, and in the evening a promenade concert will be given. On Ft iday (Boxing Day), it will re-open at the Oddfellow*' Hall, Hamilton East,
