CAMBRIDGE PARLIAMENTARY UNION.
The usual meeting of the Cambridge Parliamentary Union was held List, Monday evening. The .Speaker took the chair at 7.30 p.m. The Attorney-Gener.il asked leave to intioduco a bill'for extending the suffrage to women. Leave was granted. The bill was read a first time, and made an order of the, day for next sitting. The petition by residents of Cambridgo to revert to the former railway time-table was ordered to be forwarded to the New Zealand Government after signature by the Speaker of the House. The Annexation Bill and the Education Act Amendment Bill weie made ordeis of the day for next sitting. Mr Forrest ga\ c notice that he would move that the whole House go into committee of supply to consider the advisability of affording protection to local manufactures of the colony. The Mini,-ter for Works gave notice that he would move for leave to introduce a bill regulating the railway tariff. On the motion of Mr (iwynneth, certain standing orders wore read for the information of members The House adjourned till Monday, 22nd inst., at 7.30 p.m. There was a fair attendance, and much amusement was caused by the attempts of the Opposition to twit the Government with incompetence, and by the vigorous manner in which the attacks were repelled.
