CRICKET. Hamilton v. Cambridge.

The above match was played on Saturday last on Sydney Square, and resulted in a win for Hamilton by an innings and 49 runs to spare. The visitors arrived by coach from Cambridge, at 11 o'clock, and play commenced without delay. From the first it was evident that Cambridge was weak, several of the best men being absent, and they seemed unable to. withstand the attacks of Jenkins and Sheath, the former getting 8 wickets for 10 runs, and the latter 2 for 0, the total being 21. Hamilton responded with a total of 98, Jenkins being highest scorer with 20, followed closely by Sheath 17 and Kirk 1(5, Napper also getting into double figures. In their second venture Cambridge were not much more successful, scoring only 28 runs, thus losing the match by 49 runs and an innings. The fielding was only fair all round, except behind the wicket, where it w«\B good, as shown by the small number of extras on either side. A return match has been arranged for.
