TAUWHARE.
Tauwhare is evidently making rapid strides towards claiming with authority the title of " township," which has loug been attached to it. To use an expression of a settler, " five years ago you could swim over it." Houses may be seen at nice intervals, and the district can boast of a school, hotel, post office, and smithy. The school was opened a fortnight ago and thirty children are in regular attendance. The School Committee have kindly consented to allow the school to be used for service on Sundays. Arrangements having been made to have service every Sunday by one denomination or another. A Sunday School which promises to be a success has been started. The hotel has been open about twelve months, is a large two story building, and can be seen almost a mile and a half away, as you enter Tauwhare from Hamilton. Tamahere Station is about four miles from the township. — (Own Correspondent).
