Mr Bond ga\ c notice of motion of want of confidence in the present Ministry for ne\t evening. The Premier (Mi Pyoi) moved the adjournment of the J Louse for the space of ono minute, to allow the motion of w.uit of confidence to t.ike piccedonce. The House adjourned. Much dis-cus-sion' was evoked by the motion nnd some good speeches were made on the subject both for and against. The motion was earned. Mr Stew ait asked pei mission to postpone his motion for leave to bung in a Bill legalising cremation, till nc\t sitting.— Granted. Mi Kdgar asked leave to bung in a bill to impose a tax. on bachelors.— Leave gi anted. The riemior moved the adjournment of the considoiation of the Standing Oiders Committees' repoit. Motion lo>ton a bliow of hands. The Rev . H. 11. Dew sbury moved that the House go into committee of supply on the question of the Standing Ordeia Committee's icpoit. The House went into coiumitlco of supply. In committee of supply the mision for the appointment of a salaned clerk of r.uliament was lost on a show of hands. Mi Gvvvnneth moved that the Chanman of committees lepoit progicss.— Caiuod. The Chairman of Committees repoited progiess and stated that tliis committee had adopted tlie standing oideis as iccoimnended by the Standing Oideis Committee's Repoit, but had negitivcd the appointiiH'iit of .i salaucd tlcik. The House formally adopWl the Standing Oideis Coinnnttees lopoit. The House then adiouined. The (ioveinmenfs action in biinging forward a want of couhdence motion at tlic commencement of the evening in a thin House ciiused some amusement, especially when the Opposition adopted the tactics of leaving the House in possession of the Government.
