CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
At a special meeting of the above board on Monday afternoon tenders were opened for the work of forming tha Victoria ' rond. The following tenders were received :— A. and J. Forrest, £292 ; Ed. Martm, £2 17s Gd pur chain ; Jin. Hamilton, do. ; M. Dillon, £3 ; Ryan and C&rnachan, £1 17s (sd ; R. Criclcett, £4 Mfc ; William Lovett, £2 19s 6d ; Keeley, £4 4».~0n the motion of Ci. Lewie, Ryan and Carnachan's tender wa» accepted. The engineer, Mr Gwynneth, wrote in reference to the .formation of the Victoria road from the Pre»byterian Church to the town belt that the excavation , necessary to grade the road to take off the water was greater than was at first supposed, there being over 3000 cubic yards of earth to move, besides the formation of, say, 65 chains. He estimated the cost at from £120 to £130.— Ryan and Carnachan's tender is £130 12 a 6d.
