INVERCARGILL, Thursday.
Mr J. T. Thomson, late SurveyorGeqer^l of ,thf> golony, died this morning
at Lcnnel, Gladstone. Ho had been laid aside for several months by a paralytic affection. Mr Thomson was aixty-two years of age The weather is very inclement here. Daring the last 4S hours there have been heavy hail showers. kingswell's fellmongory at Waikiwi, a Urge establishment, was burnt down tonight. No particulars aro to hand, the place being about five miles out of town. The men who live in a hut on the 1 premises had gone to bed when they were alarmed by the crackling of burning timber, and found the building, a twostorey one, in a blaze. The insurances have not been obtained.
