The Doric's Auckland Passengers. Auckland, Friday Night. There are 42 single women immigrants for Auckland on board the steamship Doric, which arrived in Wellington this morning. This should be good news for many householders wanting " helps." She called at Tenenffe and Capetown, besides Hobnrt. Her actual steaming tiire was 44 days 15£ hours, and the total tirre for the voyage was 47 days 6£ hours. On 2nd September, a second saloon passenger for Auckland named Albert Greenwood, aged 26, was found to be missing. He was last seen about 12 o'clock on the previous night, and is believed to have jumped oveiboard, but no cause is assigned for his doing so. The Auckland passengei's come on in the Te Anau.
Sliaremarket. Little business was done in the share-inarketto-day. Sales: Pi ince Imperials, 18s 6il ; Ivanhoe, 2s 9d ; Darwin, 2s 4d. Nothing doing in bank and leading stock.
The Markets. Mr Binney reports s At the- weekly sale of hides, sheepskins and tallow, a good demand still exists for well saved hides. First-class realised 3§d to 4|d ; seconds, 2sjd to 3d per Ib. Sheepskins, Is Bd to 4s 7d each. The tallow (inferior) 23s 6d per cwt.
[press associvtion.] Wreck of a K3tcli. The Opotiki, ketch, run on a sunken rock off xMercury Bay and became a total wreck. She had a cargo of maize. The owners, Messrs Owen and Graham, are insured in the United for £400, of which £200 is reinsuied in the New Zealand Office. Mr A. Heather had part of the cargo insiued for £80 in the United* The ownership of the balance of the cargo is not known.
