[BY TELEGBAPII. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Forgery. Auckland, Friday Night. James alias Jackson, was arrested at Russell, for forging an order for £l7. He will be charged with stealing £l6 worth of photographs, the property of Mr Bartlett, photographer by whom he was employed. Another Scandal. The Star states that it has been discovered that the organist of a City Church has a wife in England besides his present spouse. Board of Education. At the Board of Education meeting, a suggestion from the New Zealand Teachers' Institute, that subjects for examination for district scholarships be identical with the requirements of the fifth and sixth standards, was referred to the Inspector for report. The Quality of Our Immigrants. The Star states that fully half the first offenders brought before the local court for such offences as forgery and larceny are new chums.
