A lakoe and influential meeting of settlers ami le&ulents of tins distuct was held in the Public Hall on Satin day evening, when lesolutions in lefeience to the railway and postal matteis and tlie general welfare of the distnyt weie passed, and a committee appointed to futther the interests of Te Aioha. Mr J. B. (Smith has definitely declined to stand as a candidate foi this r ding, so that the field now lies between .Mi Murray, of Piako, and Mr Murphy, of Waiorongomai. The number of trucks of quaitz delivered over the tiamway la&t week was 248, aud the receipts £00 19s.
