THE REBELLION IN THE SOUDAN [BY TELEGRAPH.-COPYRIGHT.] [REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] England's preparations. London, June 17.
In the House of Commons this afternoon Mr Gladstone was questioned regarding the railway material, which, it is alleged, is being prepared at Woolwich for use at Suakim. In reply, the Premier admitted the truth of the statement, and annonuced that the Government had under consideration the expediency of constructing a line from the port of Soukim to the Nile, in view of the employment for the transporting of the troops composing an expedition, which may possibly be despatched into the southern Soudan during the autumn.
