WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tin: council held a special meeting at tho chambers, Ohaupo, on Tuesday, May 13th, Oonncillois Lake (chairman), Atkinson, Lang, Corboy, Te.ibdale, Germann, and Gi ice being present. The treasurer submitted the annual accounts for the county, which were adopted as conect by the council. Spix'lAL Kate.— Cr. Teasdule moved, and Cr. Atkinson seconded, "That the special rate of l-177th of a penny in the £ be made as advcitis-ed/' As an amendment, Cr. Corboy moved, and Cr. Lake seconded, pro formaj "That the Newcastle riding be excluded from the iate, as the riding does not leceive any of the loan."— Motion carried. B\-la\v. — Cr. Gei maim moved, and Cr. Lake seconded, " That the by-law advertised be made." — Motion carried. At the conclusion of the special meeting an 01 clinary meeting was held, all the councillors being piesent. Cobukspo"n t l)ence.— From Wailcato Council re Hamilton traffic bridge. The chairman was authorised to make the best arrangement he could, but not to commit the Waipa county to more than & of the cost, -From Public Works office, notifying the proclaiming of Ale\andia to Te Awamutu, and Hamilton to Ngaruawahia roads as main roads.— From Mr llyburn, denying having any furze spreading.— The clerk was directed to notify Mr llyburn that the engineer had erred, not knowing the extent of his frontage. The clerk was also directed to call the attention of the Mangapiko Board to the furze spreading on Morgan's hill. — From the Kihikihi Town Board, requesting the council to remove all the soil that had been carted into Galloway-street, and leave the street in its original condition. The chairman of the town board being present, was requested to explain the complaint to the council. After considerable argument, during which doubts were expressed as to whether the town board know the terms of the letter, the subject was held over for further information. It was agreed to repair Lyon-Btreet.— From Messrs Campbell and Dyer, claiming damages on behalf of Mr Elmsly on account of tho alteration to the street levels. It was resolved not to entertain the claim.— From Tamahere Farmers' Club, re small bird nuisance, Held over for the present.— From the Public Works Office, re maintenance of Waipa bridge. Jt was agreed to wait, a little longer, to see if Raglan Co.Vin.ty will work the Counties Act,
The Cambridge PmTiox reestablishing a Pound. — It was resolved, " That the council do not movo in tho matter. ' Main Road.— Or. Tisdall moved, and Or. Germann seconded, "That theM.H.R. for Waipa bo urged to see that tho main roads lately gazetted be confirmed by the House during the next sesbion. It was resolved to hold a special meeting the first Tuesday in June to consider and decide on new work".
