HUKANUI.

Tho happy couple that entered upon the married state are well known and highly respectable, being some of the fiist to adopt the blue ribbon badge in the settlement. As they desired to be manied like the pakeha every effort was made to gratify their wish. Tho p;ood offices of Mrrf Reynolds, of Woodlands, were gratefully accepted by the bride, and the result was a remarkably pretty f?et-up. She wore a handsome cieain-colomed checked muslin dress?, trimmed with Biussels lace, and a long flowing white Oriental ribbon sash, a veil of white tulle, and wreath of orange blossoms, contrasted finely with her beautiful black hair, and her hand.s were fitted to perfection with white kid gloves ; indeed Tariko Hopa might well appear proud of his bride, Ngapaki Hakopa. At 11 a.m. the doors of the hall weie thrown open, and a stream of natives and European sottleis poured in. The marriage service, which was choral, was paitly in Maori and paitly in English. The Rev. John Dukes, Wesleyan minister, officiated. At the close tho bridal paity were driven by Mis Reynolds to the large pah recently erected to accommodate Tawhiao, and heie a scry substantial wedding breakfast was spread, to which the pakehas were cordially invited. The health of the bride and bridegroom was drunk in ginger ale and other temperance drinks, and a \ery plentiful supply of wedding cake was handed lound. Mis Reynolds give some excellent advice to the ncwly-m.mied couple, and Mr Dukes spoke of the pleasui J it gave the Europeans to be present and join in the celebration of tho happy e\ent. Mr Craddock returned thanks on behalf of the visitms, and tho c.mip.uiy separated. Hukanui is decidedly advancing !— (Correspondent).
