MARSDEN'S PATENT GAS GENERATOR AND THE CAMBRIDGE TOWN DISTRICT.
We are pleased to notice tli.it this matter, to which we have drawn attention on pievious occasion-,, and of which we have already given full paittculais, has not been lost bight of. Mr Marsden has sent the following communication to the Canibudge Town Board, and though it has not yet been laid bcfoic a meeting of that body we arj right in stating that the pioposal embodied has been leeeivcd with much favour by the member mdi\ ldually :—: — Auckland, May 3, 1884. To the Chairman and nieinbet-> of the Cambridge Town J3oaid. — Gentlemen, — I beg most respectfully to bring befote your notice, with a view to lighting your town with gas, the following piopo-,al : — I ask that, if m the cvnt of niv erecting gas work-j, would your board grant mo the solo right of supplying tho town of Cambridge with gas for the torn of f-nnteen years? Tho gab supplied would be IS candle power, and the puce would be for the hrst four year's ].*>& per thousand feet; the nest fi\c years 13s per thousand feet, and lls pei thousand feet for the balance of the tern 1 . The option would be given to the board to buy the woikh and plant at cist price, and a valuation for tho piteiit light*. An eaily answer to the abave w ill oblige yoiu.s faithfully, (t. H. MufsDllX. Tins lettei was xeceivod too late for the meeting of the board on Monday nioimng, but will be eonsideied at a special meeting to be held on the 2lith inst. The teinis of Mr Marden's lettei, we think, will be found exceedingly favourable, and, we have little doubt, when it comes before theboaid, as it entails no outlay on the ratepayer, it will be adopted.
