THE CAMBRIDGE POST AND TELEGRAPH OFFICE.

Tin: matter of moving the Cambridge post and telegraph station from its pies-ent site in Victoria-street to the new railway station on Whitaker Tei'race is monopolizing much of the attention of the Cambridga business public at the present tune. A laige number of signatures have been got to the petition praying for the change, and this, we understand, will be presented to Mr J. B. Whyte, M.H.R., by a deputation shortly for that gentleman to take whatever steps which he may deem advisable to effect the desired change. On the other hand, those interested m keeping the post-office where it at present stands, and where it has always, stood, have not been unmindful of their interests, and, as may bo expected, have not tieatcd with silent indifference the active .steps which the other side have felt called upon to adopt. The question will be very evenly contested, though it must be said that those against the proposed change have the advantage in this : they ask for nothing, they only desire that things shall remain as they are ; whereas, to give effect to the petition of the other side not only costs money, but theie is an much to be said against it as in its favour. It is_ therefore vory questionable, notwithstanding the influential n vtiue of the petition which has been got up, that the Cambiidgo post and telegiaph office will be allowed to lemain as it is.
