Only one tender had been received for the work after extension of time, but as some persons were of the opinion that the Govern inent would, through their interest in the railway, contribute to the work, the matter had been allowed to stand over until this should be ascertained, The Government had, however, refused to contribute in any way whatever to the woiU. Another scheme which had been deemed more feasible had been dr.nvn up. It was then proposed on the motion of Mr Campbell that the modified scheme as proposed by the town board for diainage at the Lake by means of an iiou shoot on trestles, &c, be approved on the teuns of the board's resolution of the 2dth January last, and further that a channel be cut through the high land opposite the Picsbyteiian Church to drain the water fiom the low land there into the water table in Victoiia-stiect. Accounts. — The following accounts weie passed for payment : — Fonest, £20 ; and Hickey i! 3. This was all the business.
