NARROW ESCAPES FROM HER.
The promises occupied by Mr Elliott as a furnishing warehouse, in Victoiia-street, Hamilton Wo^t, had a very narrow escape from destruction by fire on Saturday morning. Some tar on a tire in a room at the rear of the building boiled over, but the" piompt assistance of some passers-by provented any serious damage being done. A cottage in Firth-stieet, Hamilton East, occupied by Mr Grace, also had a nariow escape last night. About 7 o'clock MiLawrence Heyes, who was passing, observed a glare through the window, and after he had gone a few yards, not being satisfied, he turned back. When he reached the cottage, he met Mrs Grace rushing out to give the alarm. It seeing that one of the children had het fire to a dre&s hanging behind the door, and this was now blazing. Before the flames could spread, Mr Heyes and borne others succeeded m extinguishing them.
