[Received May 2, 10.50 p.m.] The House of Commons and Cremation. London, May 1. In the House of Commons last night, a bill to legalise cremation of dead bodies was i ejected after a debate.
Plot to Destroy the Canadian Parliamentary Buildings. Toronto, April 30. A plot to destroy the Parliamentary Buildings in this city has been frustrated. Several powerful dynamite cartridges with a fuse attached, ready for firing, were discovered this morning in the basement of the building, and promptly destroyed. The affair has caused intense excitement here. No clue to the guilty parties has yet been obtained.
[Received 2.23 p.m.] The Egyptian Conference. London, May 1. In the House of Commons to-day Mr Gladstone announced that the French Government had accepted the proposal to hold a confei ence on Egyptian affairs, but requited that there should be an exchange of views between England and France beforehand as to the subjects to be discussed. Mr Gladstone further stated that the Turkish Government had not yet replied to the proposal, but that other European Governments have accepted the same.
The Bishop of Rivsrina. London, May 1. The Rev. Sydney Linton, the newly appointsd Bi&hop of Kiverina, New South Wales, was consecrated to-day at S. Paul's Cathedral with the customary ceremony.
Arrest of a Fenian. Lmxdon, May 1. A man named Macdonnell, who ia Miown to be a centre of the present Fenian oiganis.ition, has been arrested at Weduosbui y, Staffordshire.

The total reserve in notes and bullion at the Bank of England is £15,300,000, a decline of £."500,000 during the week. The pioportion of reserve to liabilities is 40 per cent. New Zealand securities : o per cent. 1889 loan, 102^, ex div. ; 4$ per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 101^; 4 per cent, insciibed stock, 99i-, ex div. Colonial breadstuff's : Tallow is without change The stock of tallow in London to-day is 93,000 casks. At the wool auction to-day a steady tone prevailed. The demand was not active. 4000 bales were withdrawn from the sale since the opening of the series.
