S. PATRICK'S DAY.
Yesterday being the anniversary of S. Patiick was observed as a holiday in Hamilton, on both hides of the river, all places of business being cloaed throughout the day. With the exception of a quadrille party, which was held in the Public Hall in the evening, nothing in the way of amu&ement was afforded in Hamilton by way of commemorating the anniversary. The weather throughout the day was exceedingly favourable, which was a fortunate circumstance to holiday-seekers. AtCambiidge the holiday was not observed, business being carried on as usual. It being a bank holiday, both banks were, of corn-be, closed. In the evening a concert and dance were given in the Public Hall, which was largely attended. The Kihikihi .Races were the principal attraction to holiday-seekers, and a large numbet of people attended from Cambridge, Hamilton, and the other sunounding districts. A detailed report of the races appears elsewhere. A concoi tin aid of the Roman Catholic Church, Kihikihi, was held in the Public Hall there labt night, and was very succcessful.
