WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
Two informations, m which a (Jbristchurch merchant was charged by a Wellington firm with fraudulent bankruptcy, came before the X.M this morning. Alexander Mcßae, of Chiistchurch, was ehaiged by Edward Wilson and Alexander Smith, of Wellington, with, ho being a debtor within four months next before the commencement of his bankruptcy, ha\ing obtained on credit 15 quarter casks ot whiskey fram Smith and Wilson while on pretence ot carrying on business in the oidinary course of twule, with intent to defi and. Evidence was given to the ettect that defendant sent to Smith and Wilson for a quantity of whiskey, which was'sent, the piioe being 16a 4d per gallon. Befoie obtaining it, it is alleged that he sold it to a firm in Christchurch. The Magistrate committed accused for trial, bail being allowed in his bond for £50. The coroner has decided that it is not necessary te hold an inquest on the body ot Ueo. Johnston, fireman on bo.ud the steamer Wairata, who died suddenly on the voyage. The ship limTcargill, Captain Muir, ani"cd fiotn London to-day (SO day.). A lad named A. Hiuns, died of consumption during tae vojage.
