RAGLAN IRONSTONE.
The following in the analyst's report on the specimen of Raglan ironstone forwarded from this office : — I now forward my analysis of the Rasrlan iron sent by you for that purpose. The ore ia of fair quality, and belongs to the clais known as hematite. On comparison with an analysis of stone from the s.une locality, made in the Colonial Laboratory some time back, I find the present sample to be le-ss hydrous, and to contain nine per cent, more o\ide of iron. Small quantities of other metals are present, but are not estimated, as I presume the following analysis will .afford the information you wished for :—: — ANALYSIS. Iron oxide* 81*67 Alumina 3*43 Silica, &c., left hy acids ... 7 "10 Water Hygroscopic \ 7 . g0 Constitutional j 100-00 *Equal to Metallic Iron 50*34 per cent.
