MR MITCHELSON AT KIHIKIHI.
A deputation waited on Mr Mitchelson at Kihikihi on Wednesday night. — Mr Farrell spoke about postal and telegraph matters. He »aid at present the postmaster was linesman as well as a telegraphist and postmaster ; the business of the office was sufficient to keep him employed without going out to repair lines. — Mr Mitchelson asked if this matter had been represented to the telegr.iph department, and Mr Farrell said it bad not, but representations had been made to Mr Biss. Mr Mitchelson said it bhould have been mentioned to the telegraph department.— Mr Farrell: With regard to the accommodation in the p»btoffice, it was not sufficient for a man with a family. — Mr Mitchelson said he would make a note of the matter. In the matter of money under the Roads and Badges Constiuction Act, Mr Mitchelson said the Under-Secretnry for Public Works was now in Auckland, and would notify to governing bodies when the money voted for those purpose* would be distributed. — Mr Farrell spoke about a Court-house for Kihikihi, and stated that the population of this, place was about 200, while that of Te Awamutu was only 50, and he thought that a Court-house bhould be erected here. In the morning Mr Mitchelson went out to see the load to Orakau. He admitted it was badly in need of repair, and said he would do what he could in the matter. — (Own Correspondent.)
