WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Thk oidinary meeting of the Waipa County Council was hold on Tuesday, ilth October. Present : Cr.s. Lake (cbainnan), Gerniann, Gnce, Tea.sdale and Bruce. It was proposed by Cr. Geiniann, and seconded by Cr. Teasdale, that the by -laws be suspended for the remainder of the meeting. -Cairied. it wa» pioposed and seconded, that a rate of 4 of a penny in the £ be struck. — Carried. The following special and continuing rates for the diffeient ridings were struck : — Pukekura, 1-OOth of a penny in the £ ; Newcastle, l-lu"th ; Hamilton, l-32nd ; all for a period of ten years. A letter was read from Mr John Fitihei, intimating that all iatepayei.s in the Pukekura Highway District were agreeable that a portion of a road from Ohaupo to Te Rore be closed. It was proposed by Cr. Bruce, seconded by Cr. Gnce, and carried, that the chairman be requested to petition the Minister of Public Works to grant a sum of money to put the main road between Kihikiln and Orakau hi a proper state of repair, the said road being in a very bad state ; failing the said giant, to put on constabulary labour. The following accounts were passed for payment : — Thomas Cowely, £13 8s Od ; Whitaker and Campbell, £2 2s 4d ; The Waikato Times, fill) iks ; C. Moms, £2 5s ; Poiter and Co., £13 ; Giles, £(> ; W. Howie, £5 <U ; J. Steadman, £27 Is 3d ; M. Walsh, £12 18s ; Valilly, £li 10* ; T. G. Sandes, £27 ; W. Munro, £13. It was pioposed by Cr. Germann, and seconded by Cr. Bruce, that clause 101, Public Works Act, ISS2, be bi ought into foice. (This clause refers to the dealing oi j fmze off the road, and the council i& determined that the furze nuisance shall be put down. ) This concluded the business, and the council rose.
