CAMBRIDGE TO WN BOARD.
Thk visual monthly meeting of the above board was held at the board office, Cambudge, on Monday evening List. Picsent : Oih. Richardson, Hewitt, Clark, and Johnson. In the absence of Cr. Wells, Cr. Clark occupied the chair. Some pieliminai y business was disposed of. Mr Arnold's Cellar. — The committee appointed at last meeting to investigate the question of damage to Mr Arnold s cellar caused by the recent heavy rains, reported that they had ananged with Mr Arnold to repair the damage by planking the side of the cellar, so as to prevent the rain from again coming in, the surfaceman to do the work as soon as possible. It Avas agreed on motion to endoise the action of tlie committee. Chapel-street. —On the motion of Cr. Richardson it was agreed, " That this boaid endorse the action of the ratepayei-s (re closing part of Chapel-street) at a meeting held in the Public Hall on Saturday, 2flth September ; and further that full particulars be forwarded to the chairman of the Waikato County Council, with a request that the action of the ratepayers and board be endorsed by them at the first meeting of the council. The Waikato Foreshore. — The opinion of Messrs Whitaker and Campbell re the position of the board with the Waikato Coal and Shipping Company as to stoic and using foreshore, was read. — It was agreed, on the motion of Cr. Hewitt, that the clerk write to Cr. Wells, at Auckland, asking him to apply to Mr Percy Smith for a witten statement as to the board's position in regaid to wharf and foreshore. A Local Nuisance. — It was agreed that the Inspector of Nuisances be requested to take action agamst Mr Murphy for pig nuisance in Brewery-street. • Karapiro Bridge. — It was agreed that notice boards be placed on each side of the Karapiro bridge, cautioning draymen and horsemen going over the bridge at other than a walking pace. The Ranger and his Dv ties.— lt was resolved that, on account of, several complaints having been made to the commissioners re the ranger not performing his duties in a satisfactory manner, the clerk write, requesting him to ba more attentive in future, and see that no hordes or cattle are at large in the township during any portion of either night or day. l Postal T>EtijSRY.—M was resolved that the clerk interview Mr Hawley, Postmaster, re extension of delivery qf letters in the, morning, recommending that all letters Addressed'between Hamilton road and,, the" 'Post-'offic^lTdelivered'* bn the r evening" of H their i r — ;%;'*
that he would move at next monthly meeting of the board that further action be taken in the matter of endowments. Accounts.— The following accounts were passed for payment :— lngrain and Co., £2 15s ; James Meredith, £3 11s 3d ; J. Brocklesby, £5 7s ; E. W. Ward, 15s. , Thia was all the business.
