A BRIDGE FOR HUNTLY.

Mr L. B. Harris writes to the TCditor : — 1 bet: to inform you that since the last letter from the member for Waikato, re punt and bridge at Huutly, I have received the enclosed telegram with reference to the erection of a bridge at tins place. Yon will perceive that it is through the untiling zeal and attention of our member for Waikato that we are likely to have what is felt to be very much needed, and that is a bridge. It will be the means of opening up between here and the West Coabt some good land for settlement, and no doubt will make settlement in that direction a financial success. The people of this district shouhl feel thankful to Mr Whyte for the interest he has taken to promote and advance the district. To my own know ledge this ia the third session of Parliament he has been working and trying hard to have a crossing established at this place, either by way of punt or bridge, and it is to be hoped that his efforts will be crowned with success, as, when ctmied into effect, they will be a public benefit, and be the means of the (Tovernment realising a fair price for theiv land. [ENCLOST7KK.] Wellington, July 30th, ISS3. To L. B. Hakuis, Huntly.— lhe road is now a main road, so we cm proceed tins ye ir with the necessary steps lor the erection of .1 bruise under the "Roads Construction Act." lhc company will assist. J.B.Whyie.
