CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD and the NORTHCROFT PETITION.
A special mektino of the Cambridge Town Boaid was convened on Thursday las*- for the purpose of eonsideiing the action of the Hamilton Borough Council in respect to the above petition. O. K. Hewitt having explained the object of the meeting, the following resolutions were unanimously earned, and without discussion :— Proposed by Cr. Heviitt, seconded b> Cr. Clark— "That the members of the Boiough Council of Hamilton having seen tit to take public action in regard to the petition ie Mr Northci oft, R.M. foi Waikato, this board is desirous of placing upon record the fact th.it the petition in leference to th.it gentleman's dismissal was entiiely of a public nature, and that the contents theieof weie not studiously withheld fi om any section of the com tmiinty, and they further desire to state that the petition itself has been signed by the most influential settleis of this di&tiict without lefcienoe to eiecd, pio fession or political opinions." — Carried unanimously. ♦•That a copy of the foregoing resolution be foi wauled to Mr Whjte, A1.11.R., with a icqucat that he present the sahic to the honourable the Minister for Justice."
