[Received July Stfth, 2.5 p.m.] Defeat and Death of Cetewayo. Cavk Town, July 26^ The report to hand yesterday of the death of Cetewayo at the battle of Ulnndi is mow fully confirmed. It has been further ascertained that all the king's men were killed with him.
The Suez Canal. Londox, July 26. Mr Gladstone has fixed Monday next for the discussion of Sir Stafford Northcote's motion urging that the claim of Count de Lesseps to a monopoly for the' construction of canals in Egypt should be repudiated. Iv expressing his willingness to discuss the motion on Monday, Mr Gladstone at the same iimo deprecated any discussion at present, as the Government do not intend to re-open negotiations with Count de Lesseps.
Death of an Irisk M.P. London, July 26. The death is announced of Mr o'Conner, M.P. for Sligo County, aged 43.

The Bank of England weekly returns show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £12,400,000, an advance of £000,000 during the week. The proportion of revenue to liabilities is 44 per cent. The colonial wool market is quieb. The arrivals to date for the next auction, commencing August 2lst, amount to 380,000 bales. There are no changes to report in New Zealand securities or colonial breadstuffs and tallow.
