CAMBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOL.
The lialf-ye.irly distribution of piizes in connection with the above school took place at three o'clock yesterday in the school. The prizes were presented by Mr G. F. Essay Prizk. — Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Standards, Maud Nixon. At the conclusion of the distribution, which was prefaced by a few well-chosen remarks by Mr Hosking, admonishing the young folks to increased diligence and perscverence, the head teacher, Mr R D. Steward, addressed a few words to the friends and relatives, informing them that the balance-sheet and vouchers in connection with the prizes were open for their inspection. The balance - sheet shows— realised by concert, £13 3s Gil ; expenditure upon prize books, £10 5s ; miscellaneous expenses, £2 18s 6d. In this item are included cost of advertising concert, printing, etc. Mr Stewarts announcement that the school would now break up for a week's holiday was, it is needless to say, received by the children with unqualified satisfaction.
