NELSON, Saturday.
At the Supreme Court to-day, the Grand Juiy returned a true bill against Mary Grain matica, as an accessory after the fact in the Lyell murder case# Owing to the non-appearance of Mrs Cook, from Wellington, the Grand Jury adjourned till Thursday next, to consider the bigamy case. His Honour passed a sentence on F. J. Hodgson of twelve months' hard labour. He said the fact of the prisoner having given evidence of contrition, and having showed where the balance of the money was, had been taken into consideration. The jury, after one hour and a half's consideration, found John Tyrell, proprietor of the Westport Star, guilty of inserting a letter containing a libel on Charles Wright, proprietor of the Buller News. The Judge inflicted a fine of £50, payable to Her Mafeaty.
