Mining. Welcome. — The' manager is still engaged breaking out another, parcel of qnaitz to send to the battery. The vein is four inches in thickness, increasing as it goes, downward. Every stone shows gold, and [ may be classed as picked stone. A very rich yield is expected.

School Matters. Mr O'Snllivan, the inspector of schools, has been here during the week, and visited Shaftesbury, Te Arolia West, and Wiuorongomai.
