THE ELECTRIC LIGHT. [BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIA TION.] Wellington, Last Night.
The private residence of Dr Lemon, superintendent of telegraphs, was successfully illuminated wftli the electric light last night, this being the first private house in the colony into which this light has been introduced. The apparatus used consists of Sieinen's dynamo, which will supply 15 lights, each equal to 20 candle power, and will aceomodate itself to erery lamp. The incandescent lamp is the one employed in the present instance. The plant has been specially imported by Dp Lemon, at a cost of a little over £200, with the exception of the regulation enging of 15 horse power, &c. The whole has been fitted up Dr Lemon himself. It is believed that the new light will be found quite as cheap as tjas for its weight and size. Dr Lemon considers that the Siemens' dynamo machine is the most powerful generator in the market. A gas engine is employed to drive the machinery.
