Return of the Governor. Auckland, Last Night. The Governor has returned to town after visiting Kawau and Waiwera in the Hincmoa. Accidents. "^^w A young man named Box, working 1& ,the drag bench at Roc's mill, Onehunga, had his hand cut off close to the wrist this morning while trying to get a water pipe clear to cool the saw. His hand was dragged in by the saw, and was cut off above the wrist. Another accident occurred to Arthur Harman, engine driver at the mill. He was severely scalded about the face and eyes through an escape of steam from one of the pipes. The Steamer Westmeath. A large number of neople, having friends aboard the Westmeath, expected from England, assembled ou the wharf to day. The vessel being over due, there is considerable disappointment at her nonarrival. The detention is supposed to be due to heavy weather leported by the Taraweia, which arrived from Sydney today. Auction Sale. At Dowden's sale of produce — Auckland potatoes brought from £2 to £2 5a i per ton ; Canterbury do., £4 17s 6d to £5 ; maize, 3s lid ; oats (inferior,) 2s Gd.
