[BY TELEGRAPH.— OWX CORRESPONDENT.] Te Akoha, Last Night. Since the winter has set in the roads in this district, particularly between here, Waiorongomai and Shaftesbury are in a dreadful condition for wheeled traffic. The contractors are now about to pommencc work on tlie partial formation of the road between Waiorongomai , and Shaftesljury, Wiseman and party being the successful tenderers (£733) for both contracts. Hetherington and party's contracts for the road between Cox's gate and the Thames County boundary will not be definitely considered until the council meeting on Wednesday. No tender has been received for the track between Cane gate and the Waiorongomai stream. The Domain Boaid have piepared specifications for building the' new sanatorium in connection ' with the hot springs, and now call for tenders for the work. The details of the scheme are similar to those described in your paper some few weeks ago. , The Board of Education refuse to entertain the memorial of the residents of Waiorongomai for a school until the inspector has reported. The inspector will 'also visit Shaftesbury, arid rdport on the desirability of a school there.; r Work in the mines is being steadily proceeded with, but there is nothing startling. ; Applications for four new licenses will becousitlered at the next meeting of the Aroha Licensing Committee, of which Mr A.
