Tamahere Sports.
1 The first programme of sports under this head which has ever been given will be instrumental in attracting a laige number of the Wdikato public to the vicinity of Tamahere to-day. The programme, which is both long and well selected, is of that nature which usually attracts large fields and a good attendance. Ib consists of horse and foot racing, together with such events as hop, step, and jump, walking matches, vaulting with pole, standing high jnmp, &c M &c. The Tamahere Cup of 10 soys. promises to be the event of the day. The entries for this event are Sour Grapes, Ouida, Vanity, Hinemoa, Fear Not, Kotorua, Hector, and Nita. The contest is between Sour Grapes and Fear Not, the former being the most likely candidate for first place. There will be a band of music in attendance, which in itself should be a great attraction. The stew aids have been making every preparation for a good day's amusement, and should the weather be favourable their efforts cannot fail to be well rewarded.
