Jones, Cochrane, Bradley, Yon Stunner, Peat, I^cDouald and Tippen.— Re the v £H0 t aw*ard, the clerk laid the writcalling,upon the corporation to answer certain allegations of the Waikato County Council was laid on the table, and it was agreed to ittst'rujit the solicitor to take the decessary steps. application from MvCalderwood for paymeub of his account for superintending Cook-street drain was i ordered to lie on the table. — An offer by Mr W. Wood to clean drain in Colling-wood-street for 9s was accepted. — A petition of residents and property-'-owners in Galloway-stteet, deferred from last meeting, was read, praying the council- to proceed with the work of formation. The petitioners pointed out that the street was in a very bad state of repair, and almost impassable in winter. — On the motion of Cr. Jones, it was resolved that a committee, consisting of Crs. Yon Stunner, Tippen and Cochrane, be appointed to report on the work required to be done at the next meeting of the council. — The Works Committee reported on works in progress, repairs to streets, drains, &c — Ths report was adopted. — It was resolved to clean out and repair the main drain in Hamilton West, from Hood-street to Hinton's (lully, and the main drain in Hamilton East, in accordance with the recommendations of the councillors who had inspected the respective works, the repairs to be carried out by the Works Committee, a motion by Cr. Jones to employ an engineer to do the work failing to find a seconder. —The following accounts were passed for payment : — P. McMdhon (dog collars), £3 6s 8d ; J. Hinton (carting), £1 12s ; W.S.N. Co. 4s 3d ; A. Campbell (timber. Sec), £12 4s 2d ; Murphy, 3s.— The statement of funds was read as follows :— General account (overdraft), £33S 4a 4d ; special fund account (credit), £153 Os 2d.— lt was agreed to defer the matter of repairing the Hood-street culvert for the present. — Permission was granted the Works Committee to put a few loads of giavel on the foot-path leading to the Hamilton West School. — The Mayor drew attention to the damage done by cattle to the willows on the river bank opposite the Waikato Brewery, but no action was taken in the matter.— This was all the business.
