CRICKET. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,— Allow me to make a few remarks concerning a cricket match which was said (in your issue of Tuesday last) to have taken place between Te Awainutu> and Ohaupo. It was no match whatever, as the members of the Te Awamutu club, with the exception of three or four, were unable to attend. After waiting until nearly two o'clock in the afternoon to see whether any more cricketers would arrive those that were present adjourned to a 'piece of ground which resembled a used up saw-pit, or the bottom ot a ditch, and with an old ball which one of the visitors had luckily brought, and which was so soft that one of the victorious band was under the painful necessity of flinging or throwing to enable it to travel from one wicket to the other, the glorious field was won by the Ohaupians.-pl am, &c, Vanquished. Te Awamutu, Jan. 11th.
