The race was a grand one throughout, and keenly contested by Commotion and Guesswork. Guesswork led fiom the start, and continued to do so past the stand and round the back of the course. At the abattoirs Jessie took second place from Commotion, but on passing the stand the second time Commotion had again secured second place, Guesswork still leading the field. That older was maintained to the abattoirs again, when Navigator took third place. Coining up the straight, Guesswork and Commotion were leading together, the latter having come up with a fine spurt, followed by Navigator. The three were very close together along the .straight, and after a grand race Commotion landed the winner by a neck, Navigator being close on ' to the second horse. Time, omin. 26secs.
