The trial of the cleetrio light at Spencer-street railway station took place hist night. Sixteen arc ami incandescent lamps were in position, and the trial was completely successful. Subsequently Sir Julius Yogel entertained a large number of guests at supper. The room was brilliantly lighted -\\ ith incandescent lamps.
Hvunkv, Kiidny. At a recent special general meetiny of mcmbeib of the Australian Mutual Provident .Society, amendments providing for changes in the mode of the election of directors and distribution oi profits, etc., as proposed by the board, were agreed to. After the distribution of the next year, the surplus profits of tlvc Hocicty will be divided annually instead of quiiNjuennially, as heretofore.
