The Gazette contaius the following notice, re the Roads and Blidgcs Constiuction Act, 1882 :— -"The following particulars relative to the estimates, plans, and specifications to bo submitted to the Minister for Public "Works, under sections 9 and 10 of the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, 1882, are published tor general information. These shall include one general or key plan, showing the route of the road between well-known termini, with the locality of the proposed works marked thereon ; or the site of the works may be indicated on the plan by reference to survey sections along any line of road ; scale 1 mile to 1 inch longtitudinal. The section of ground and road-line formation must have the grades marked on it, and the heights at change of grade from a datum line ; also the depths of the cuttings and bank* at every chain in rou^h ground, or at every two or three chains in ground of an even character, this section to be in sheets, each showing not more than 1 mile in length ; scale, 3 chains to 1 inch longitudinal, 3 feet to 1 inch vertical. Estimates for large culverts and bridges need not be given in detail, but per lineal foot. The kind of bridge must be described as iron or wood, truss or plain, the size of the spans, as also the width of the roadway and its height above the ordinary water level and above the highest flood level. Full particulars of culverts must be given as to shape, width, height, and thickness, and the material of which it is pioposed to build them. Tracings on cloth of plans, as above, to be sent for approval. These will be kept in the Public Works Department as a record. Specimen sheets of each such plans will be furnished to any local body applying for them."
