SUPPOSED DROWNING CASE AT ORAKAU.
Am vx named George Savage, employed at the farm of the Messrs Tole, near Orakau, proceeded on some business on horseback across the Funiu river on Sunday morning, and has not yet been heard of. His horse, with the bridle and saddle on, was found on Monday morning at this side after having recrossed. Fears are entertained that he has been drowned when returning over the river, as he could not swim, and there was rather a heavy flood at the time, caused by the raius a day or two previous, but when he passed over the fording place was very shallow. Constable Gillies, with Sergeant Cooper and others, was out all day yesterday by the banks of the river, and reburned m ithout finding the least trace of him. — [Kihikihi Correspondent, yesterday.)
