SAD ACCIDENT AT RAGLAN.
We regret to have to record the death by drowning of Mr A. B. Pearson, of Canterbury, brother of Mr W. F. Pearson, M.H.R. for Ashley. From information supplied to an Auckland paper by Mr Brettargh, manager of the Te Akau station, where the deceased gentleman was on a visit, we glean the following particulars : — Mr Pearson left the station on Sunday, on horseback, en routt for Auckland, to see the races, show, etc. He was endeavouring to cross an arm of the Raglan harbour when he met his death. The horse the deceased was riding was recovered soon after the accident, and the body was found on Monday. An inquest was to be held on the remains on Tuesday. Mr Brettargh, who arrived iv Auckland on Monday, and who had only left hia residence at Raglan a short time before deceased, has telegraphed the sad news of the untimely death of the young man to the friends of deceased in Canterbury.
